WHY SINGAPORE?
On most world maps Singapore is marked by only a dot. A city-state and island country much smaller in comparison to our Southeast Asian neighbours, Singapore has been given the nickname “little red dot”. Yet we are a vibrant and diverse population of about 6 million, a melting pot of many different cultures. Our strategic position along historical trade routes, combined with our main language being English, makes us an ideal connecting point between West and East. It has become a go-to destination for many missionaries who are looking for a place to rest, recharge, and be equipped for missions in Asia and beyond.

Discipleship Training SCHOOL (DTS)
The DTS is the foundational course of YWAM. DTS seeks to bring you into a more intimate relationship with God. It also gives you an opportunity to discover your passions and your part in God’s purposes for the world. It is an invitation to those who long to follow Jesus in new ways with a different perspective. The course is a full-time program and lasts 5 months. This consists of a 3-month intensive lecture phase, followed by a 2-month outreach to various nations throughout Asia. Students will hear from international and local speakers and be guided by dedicated school staff in a loving, discipling community.

The SBS is a fun way for students to grow in their relationship with God and to further discover their role in His kingdom. It’s an opportunity to dive into His heartbeat and design for humanity from the start of history.During the 9-month course students learn how to study all 66 books of the bible through inductive observation and interpretation of what the text says, then letting those observations shape their beliefs

The Night School is a modular version of the SBS for students residing in Singapore who are unable to join our full-time SBS. Unlike the full-time SBS where all 66 books of the Bible are covered in nine months, SBS Night School is designed to cover 9 to 10 selected books from the Old and New Testaments each year, eventually covering all the books in 7 years. Students enrol year by year.We place emphasis on equipping the student with the tools to continue a lifetime of Bible study. This is done through a system of class lectures held two consecutive evenings a month, independent study and individual coaching.

Do I need a visa? How do I apply for a visa? What type of visa do I need?
If you are not from Singapore, you will need to apply for an appropriate visa. Details regarding your visa will be communicated upon your acceptance to the school. Please do not apply for a visa until you have received your acceptance letter and instructions to do so.
If I have missed the application closing date, can I appeal?
Please email the relevant school leader to discuss this matter as we understand that circumstances differ tremendously and we take each application seriously. Therefore it is only appropriate for the respective school leader to address your situation accordingly.
What is a Discipleship Training School?
DTS is a five-month, in-depth discipleship program that includes a 12-week teaching phase followed by an eight week mission trip. It's a "heart-change" course designed to give you a solid foundation of personal growth and relationship with Jesus - whether you're interested in career missions or simply taking time to get to know God better.
What does the schedule look like on a DTS?
Each day you will have activities such as, lectures, work duties, (general duties around the base) and evening activities. Each week will also include small groups, outreach prep, one-on-one mentoring and local outreach. There are also weekly corporate events you will participate in such as base worship, intercession (prayer) and Word. Your weekends may occasionally have school activities but most will be free for you to explore Singapore, attend church, and have some study and rest time.
Do I need to do a DTS first before doing a second level school?
Yes. A 24 credit University of the Nations recognised DTS is a preliminary requirement before you can do other second level schools or join staff.
Are there opportunities for me to get involved with after completing my DTS in Perth?
Yes, you may continue onto further training programs or join staff here with us at YWAM Perth or at any of the YWAM bases around the world! Learn more about opportunities after DTS!
