All Christian ministry stems out of a vibrant relationship with God. YWAM?s foremost value of Knowing God forms the basis of our training programmes before we commission Christians to go to the nations. We emphasise intimacy with God, guidance through hearing God?s voice, strong biblical foundations, cross-cultural competency, servant leadership and ministry relevance to an unreached world.
EQUIPPING TO BE RELEVANT
YWAM strongly believes in equipping the whole person for the work of the kingdom. We intentionally offer training and renewal for our field workers and missionaries through on-going schools and a wide range of education programmes, all over the world. Through the University of the Nations (U of N), a degree granting university established in the 1980s, students can select from seven disciplines of study – Christian ministries, Communications, Counselling and Healthcare, Education, Arts, Humanities and International Studies to Science and Technology. The U of N curriculum applies biblical truths to every aspect of life to impact every sphere of society. Students also gain international perspectives as they take courses in the various locations of the YWAM world.
WE ARE CALLED TO A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW THAT HONOURS GOD AND INFLUENCES EVERY ARENA OF SOCIETY.
“They would learn how to truly love God with all their hearts, souls, minds and strength. They would have the chance to learn from special men and women who had been practising what they were teaching. And it could be a family type of setting, with all of us learning together – students and teachers. They would be learning by doing – going to foreign countries, meeting people, seeing the conditions and helping.”
Loren Cunningham, Founder of YWAM
