Goal of SBS Night School
Our goal is to teach students a right way to approach God’s Word. SBS Night School is not another Bible study class that teaches the Bible’s contents. Besides giving a good idea of the books that we will cover, we really aim to challenge students to learn to think about God’s Word for themselves and to let the Bible’s truths shape their thinking.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
What’s New in Night School 2010?
For the first time, we will be offering a Class Only option for those of you who would really like to study God’s Word but whose work and/or personal schedules just do not permit the submissions of monthly homework assignments. For this option, you will still have to join us for the first week of the course where we teach the tools of inductive Bible study. The first week is essential in helping you to understand the teaching of the books throughout the year. You will be assigned to a staff member who can help you with any questions you may have. We know that you will be blessed by the teaching. However, please understand that this is not a separate class, so you will be joining the rest who are doing homework and as such, some of the lesson time will be used to discuss various aspects of the homework assignments.
Strongly Encouraged: Class Plus Homework option (Sign up for this if you can!)
For students who can come for class and would like to grow in the use of the tools of inductive Bible study through the monthly homework submissions, there is the more challenging Class Plus Homework option. In this option, each student will be assigned to a staff member who will be ‘on call’ to help the student with any questions, and will also be giving feedback on the homework that is turned in and coaching on how to see more in the text. This option is strongly encouraged as it is a tried and proven way to build a solid foundation in the understanding of God’s character and ways.
This course will run for the year 2010 and so those who sign up will need to commit to the study throughout the year. The lectures will not be opened to the public, but will be for those who have signed up for the course. A certificate of completion from Youth With A Mission Singapore will be given to those who complete the course, but there will be no credit given for the course with the University of the Nations. If you have any questions about the course, please do not hesitate to contact Cindy Low, Kim Teo or Yin Hwee at sbsnightschool@gmail.com.
